The Miami Carnival 2021 Showcase was curated by SFCBLA,
On Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at the Little Haiti Cultural Center the South Florida Carnival Band Leaders Association showed their appreciation for all Carnival Go’ers and bands by putting on a showcase for the Upcoming Miami Carnival.
When Is Miami Carnival 2021
The Miami Carnival Parade is carded for Sunday, October 10, 2021. With the halt of all Carnivals since the onset of Covid-19 in early 2020, this event was an exciting chance to see Carnival bands unite and participate in a showcase promoting Caribbean culture, festivity, Soca music, and beautiful Carnival costumes.
Though only 3 brands were presented in the showcase; Euphoria Mas, Savage Mass Productions, and 4 out of 13 sections from Ramajay Mas, the show was full of excitement, and a great foreshadow of what’s to come in October. One Island Band, D-Junction Mas, FreaksNy Mas, Dingolay Mas, and Party Room Squad Mas, to name a few opted-in for a virtual launch expected in the next few weeks.
It’s amazing to see that bands even with such short notice (we didn’t know until about a month before the Miami Carnival Showcase that Miami Carnival 2021 was actually going to happen), we’re able to have both frontlines, and backline options even new male sections with additional backpacks put together in time for the show.
It was great to see that some sections did a wonderful job with costumes for the curvier masqueraders.
Keep in mind that these are not the only costume options available. Many of the bands have other options, be sure to check them out directly for more.
Bands like FreaksNy Mas have already set dates for their virtual band launch, and K-Paya Carnival 2021 is working on one, too.
